Village Contacts
Community Contact Numbers
Along with discovering entertainment and activities, it is also helpful for residents and newcomers to know where to find important information and who to contact within the community. The Villages is supported by a variety of local government offices, safety services, and community organizations that help maintain the quality of life residents enjoy.
Much of the infrastructure and community services within The Villages are managed by the Community Development Districts (CDD), which operate as special-purpose local governments responsible for services such as recreation facilities, utilities, infrastructure maintenance, sanitation, and community standards. These districts are overseen by elected boards and professional district management teams that help ensure the community continues to run smoothly and efficiently. ()
For public safety, residents are served by several county law-enforcement agencies depending on the location within The Villages, since the community spans Sumter, Lake, and Marion counties. The Sumter County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement for much of the area, and residents can call the non-emergency line at 352-569-1600 or the Villages district office at 352-689-4600 for assistance. In the event of an emergency involving police, fire, or medical services, residents should always dial 911.
Within the community itself, Community Watch plays an important role in maintaining safety and security. While Community Watch is not a law enforcement agency, it works closely with local police and sheriff’s departments to help monitor neighborhoods, provide gate and patrol services, and assist residents with safety concerns. Residents can contact Community Watch 24 hours a day at 352-753-0550 for assistance or to report concerns. ()
Other useful resources include county emergency management offices, local health departments, hospitals, and community service centers that provide support and information for residents. Having these contacts available can be extremely helpful for both everyday needs and unexpected situations. Whether someone needs assistance with public safety, local government services, or general community information, these organizations help ensure that residents of The Villages have access to the support and resources they need.
For newcomers especially, keeping a list of these important contacts and resources readily available can make navigating life in the community much easier and more comfortable.

Village ID Cards
The Villages requires I.D. cards for a few very important reasons: The I.D. proves you are a resident or an authorized guest. It’s required to:
- Enter recreation centers
- Use pools, fitness centers, and clubs
- Participate in activities and events
- Identify who belongs in resident-only areas
- Respond to emergencies more efficiently
- Reduce theft, misuse, or overcrowding
- Facilities don’t get overrun by outsiders
- Everyone gets equal access to courts, classes, and events
These are NOT official IDs as you may have noticed. Just wanted to throw a little fun into the mix of things.
